May 9, 2005 – The town hall meetings called to get feedback from the community on the University of the Virgin Islands' Strategic Plan 2012, postponed last month, have been rescheduled for the upcoming week and next week.
The meetings will kick off on St. John at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Legislature room. The St. Thomas meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Palms Court Harborview Hotel, and on St. Croix, the meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 18 at the St. George Village Botanical Garden.
A release from UVI said the general public will be able to enter into a dialogue with LaVerne E. Ragster, UVI president, and other university administrators about the future direction of the university. UVI's Strategic Plan 2012 is the university's road map, ensuring that UVI will continue to serve as a catalyst for economic and social change in the territory.
"A major part of the University's mission is to serve the community. What better way to do that than to plan ahead, in collaboration with members of the community, " Ragster said. "It is imperative that we have this dialogue about the Strategic Plan, in order to determine whether the direction we're headed in is on target or whether there may be other ways that UVI may be able to have greater impact in the territory."
The university invites members of the public to share their views, opinions and innovative ideas in an atmosphere of mutual respect and goodwill, the release said.
