May 23, 2005 – Commissioner Dean C. Plaskett, Esq., of the Department of Planning and Natural Resources, announces that the Virgin Islands Energy Office (VIEO) is in the process of formulating its State Energy Program Territorial Plan. This plan will include all energy programs to be administered by the Energy Office within the Virgin Islands and will be funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy.
In order for the Energy Office to develop a plan that will reach the majority of the population, they must obtain input from individuals in all sectors of the community. As such, an invitation is extended to the general public as well as members of decision making agencies and organizations to come out and provide ideas for the State Energy Program Territorial Plan.
The Town Meetings are scheduled as follows: on St. John, Monday, May 23; on St. Thomas, Tuesday, May 24; on St. Croix, Wednesday, May 25. These meetings will be held in the senate chambers on the respective island, 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The St. Thomas meeting will be broadcasted live and simultaneously on the Government Access Channel 12 on St. Thomas and Channel 6 on St. Croix and live on radio station WIUJ 102.9 FM. The St. Croix meeting will only broadcast live on WIUJ 102.9 FM. A call-in number will be provided for individuals who are unable to attend the town meetings.
