Four Athletes Take Medals at Leeward Championships.

May 31, 2005 – The V.I. Track and Field Federation announced in a press release that the National Junior Track and Field team won five gold medals, two silver and one fourth place standing at the Leeward Islands Championships in Antigua this past weekend.
David Walters of the Cheetah's Track Club and a student of Charlotte Amalie High School, led the way with gold medals in the 100m in 11.16 and the 200m in 22.31. Calvin Dasent of the Barracudas Track Club and the St.Croix Educational Complex won a gold medal in the 400m in 50.1, he took the silver medal in the 200m in 22.6.
Chadiola Chumney of the Cheetahs and Charlotte Amalie High School won the gold medal in the 400 meters in 63.01; she won silver in the 200m in 24.54.
Chenay Rogers of the Hounds and Foxes TC and Country Day School won the gold medal in the Shot Put in 8.74 and took fourth place in the Long Jump in 4.58
This is the first time that each team member won a gold medal at a championship competition for the Virgin Islands.
With the exception of Chumney (under-20) all the athletes were in the under-17 category.
The national coaches with the team were Devon Peters and Linda Garraway.
