Free Homeland Security Training

June 8, 2005 – University of the Virgin Islands Community Engagement and Lifelong Learning Center is resuming a course in homeland security awareness on all three islands. This free 24-hour course is open to all first responders in both government and private sectors.
The course will cover threat awareness and response to terrorist actions. The training will emphasize awareness to potential chemical, explosive, biological and radiological threats.
Eligible agencies include: Police, Fire, Rescue, EMS, Public Works, WAPA, Customs, Port Authority, Department of Education, Planning and Natural Resources, Postal Services, Red Cross, National Park Services, WICO, private security firms, hotels and resorts. Representatives of the Department of Public Works, public school monitors, guards and custodial workers are urged to attend.
The classes on St. Thomas are scheduled for June 13-15, July 11-13, and July 18-20; St. Croix: June 15-17, June 22-24, and July 6-8; and St. John: Saturdays, June 11,18, and 19.
