St. Croix Resident Shot Down

June 13, 2005 – A 29-year-old Estate St. John resident was shot dead Monday morning.
According to a police report, officers responded to a call at 11:38 a.m.
They found a black male lying face down next to a trailer home, where he resided. The report further stated he had sustained multiple bullet wounds and had succumbed to his injuries. He was identified as Linroy A. Benjamin.
Preliminary investigation, according to a press release from Herminio Velazquez, deputy police chief, revealed the victim arrived at the trailer home minutes before the incident. He was inside the home when champagne colored SUV drove into the yard. The victim went outside, shots were heard and the vehicle drove away, the victim was subsequently transported to the Juan Luis Hospital where he was pronounced dead by an emergency room physician.
The V.I. police department is appealing to the public to call the department with information that may assist the investigation of this homicide. The department number is 778-2211.
