The Martinez, Moron, Greaux and Buice Families wish to announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Hermenegildo "Gildo" Martinez, age 87, on July 28, 2005, at the Embracing Hospice Care facility in Snellville, Georgia, after a brief illness. He was buried on August 5, 2005, in Culebra, Puerto Rico. Many of you will remember him when he operated his first grocery store in 1944 located in Kronprindsens Gade across from the then Lindquist Garage, where he served the people of the area for twelve years, providing the convenience of nearby shopping for neighbors and friends. From there in 1956 he moved his family to Contant 7B-15 near Soto Town where he and his wife, Paula, operated Martinez Self-Service up until 1980 when he retired and moved to his birthplace of Culebra, Puerto Rico. Gildo saw St. Thomas grow and prosper and always felt he had the privilege of sharing in its growth and prosperity by serving his people and by being a part of the lives of those he came in contact with. We wish to thank all his friends from Downstreet St. Thomas, Frenchtown, and Contant who made his experience possible. Your kindness and thoughtfulness will always be remembered. Thanks to all our friends and relatives who expressed their sympathy by means of cards, prayers, phone calls, a helping hand, and those who consoled us in person, and to those who sent donations to the Catholic Church in Culebra. Donations in memory of Gildo can be made to Iglesia Nuestra Senora del Carmen, P.O. Box 236, Culebra, P.R. 00775. A special thanks to the staff of Gwinnett Medical Center, Lawrenceville, Georgia, the staff of Embracing Hospice Care in Snellville, Georgia, and to Father Jaime Barona of St. Matthews Catholic Church in Winder, Georgia. Thanks also goes out to the people of Culebra, Puerto Rico, to all our relatives in Culebra, and especially to our good friends Father Renee, Father Ramon, and Sisters Leticia and Theresa Fontanez, for their assistance and support during this difficult time.
May he rest in peace.

The Martinez, Moron, Greaux and Buice Families
