Sept. 17, 2005 – The American Cancer Society is hosting a Thank You! Beach Picnic on Saturday Sept. 24, at Magens Bay Beach Shed 4 for all Relay for Life Teams and their families.
This year the American Cancer Society was able to raise over $275,000 only because of the fundraising of the wonderful teams that participated, according to an ACS press release.
"It's just our small attempt to say thanks again and show the teams, especially the team captains, how much they mean to us," said Candia Petersen – president and unit coordinator for St. Thomas/St. John ACS.
The picnic is on Saturday from noon until 6 p.m. There will be food, drinks, games, music and lots of fun.
Sandra Daly – chairperson for RFL said, "Relay for Life is a community event and, as always, this community stepped up to the plate and did a tremendous job raising money for persons diagnosed with cancer, we love you Relay for Life Teams".
Come out and have some fun…. bring your friends, family, co-workers, and children…don't forget your bathing suits and sunscreen.
