News Brief: Some Judges Rotate, Other Don't

Sept. 27, 2005 – Superior Court judges at the district of St. Thomas – St. John, have been reassigned.
Court Administrator Glenda Lake confirmed reports Tuesday that Judge Ive Arlington Swan has been assigned to the Family Division of the court and Judge Leon Kendall, who held that position the past twelve months, has been returned to the division which hears all other cases.
"It is part of a routine rotation of the judges," Lake said. Kendall and Judges Audrey Francis, Rhys Hodge and Brenda Hollar will handle the criminal and civil cases for the next year. The reassignment of the judges took effect on the first day of September..
On St. Croix, the judges were not rotated from the civil and criminal division to the family court.
Judge Patricia Steele has opted to stay in the Family Division. One court insider has said matters that come before the Family Division are her passion.
Other judges on St. Croix include: Presiding Judge Maria Cabret, Daryl Donahue and Edgar D. Ross.
