Community Theatre Presents Short Comedies

Nov. 7, 2005 — The Caribbean Community Theatre presents When Men Are Scarc e, the 2005-2006 season opener which debuts on Nov. 11. CCT ventures into new waters with an evening of three short comedies instead of a more traditional full-length play in two acts. This production will run for only two weekends: Nov. 11-12 and Nov. 18-19, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m., and two Sunday matinees on Nov.13 and 20 at 4 p.m.
The opening act of this triple threat comic lineup is Nobody Sleeps by Guernsey Le Pelley, followed by Family Names by Edna Pellonero (both directed by Eileen Bishop Des Jardins), and winds up with When Men Are Scarce by John Kirkpatrick (directed by Jeanne Johnston). Onstage is a great ensemble of new and returning CCT actors: Linda Lane Baxter, Sasha Brady, Claire Burke, William Davis-McKean, Nancy Green, Janice Lee, Mariah Mays, Charlene McGowan, Kenley Smith, Emily Van Buren and Lisa Vaughan.
Nobody Sleeps introduces an inept burglar, Spike, who breaks into a house full of women who not only don’t take him seriously but go so far as to criticize his life of thievery and gnaw at his self-esteem.
Family Names is a hilarious banter between two women, one a professed "adulteress" who is trying to come clean about her sins and the other a very aloof receptionist.
When Men are Scarce is about three career girls who share an apartment with the agreement that one night a week two of them must clear out, leaving the third one free to spend the evening with male company. Needless to say, things don’t go as planned … or do they?
Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $8 for students. The bar and box office at the theater at 18 Estate Orange Grove in Christiansted opens at 7:15 p.m. No reservations are accepted for this production.
