Nov. 15, 2005 – American Red Cross of the Virgin Islands will conduct HIV prevention outreach in Center Court at Tutu Park Mall on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 28, 29, and 30. The event is to promote community awareness among men and women about how to protect themselves from contracting the disease that can lead to AIDS. The 2005 theme for World AIDS Day is Stop AIDS: Keep the Promise.
ARC will have educational displays and demonstrations of culturally and age appropriate materials. There will also be registration forms available for free classes on condom negotiation skills. In addition, a trivia contest on a local radio station will be conducted about correct HIV prevention information. Promotional "Condom Pops" with "World AIDS Day" stamps, Lance Armstrong style bracelets in red with "Protect yourself against HIV" in Spanish, and American Red Cross HIV prevention T-shirts will be awarded as prizes.
