Power Outages Continue on Feeder No. 10

Nov. 25, 2005 — Sections of St. Croix Feeder No.10 including Estates LaGrange, Grove Place and Annaly, as well as on Mahogany Road, were without power Friday morning. The feeder initially tripped at around 12:30 a.m. Friday morning and power was immediately restored, according to a release from the V.I. Water and Power Authority. However, the feeder tripped several more times throughout the early morning and line crews have been troubleshooting the problem, Cassandra Dunn, WAPA spokeswoman said.
" The crews continue to clear trees from power lines and take the necessary steps to restore power to these areas," Dunn said in the release. The problems have been most likely caused by the heavy rains, lightning and winds over the past several days on St. Croix, she said.
Sections of St. Croix were without power for large parts of Thanksgiving Day, much to the dismay of residents trying to prepare dinner.
Bridget Cox-Dawson, west end resident, e-mailed the Source to say she was without power continuously for six hours Thursday. Dawson said, referring to Alberto Bruno-Vega, WAPA 's executive director, "I ask Mr. Vega: 'Did you have electricity on Thanksgiving?' If he didn't and I was his wife attempting to prepare a holiday meal with inoperable electrical appliances, no lights, no running water—I would be filing for divorce on Monday morning citing inhumane treatment!"
Dunn said, the authority is working to restore power to the affected sections of Feeder No. 10 as early today as possible and regrets the inconvenience to it customers.
