Traffic Will be Rerouted for Miracle on Main Street Friday

Dec. 15, 2005 –– Downtown Charlotte Amalie traffic will be rerouted Friday to accommodate Miracle on Main Street events, including those in Emancipation Garden which begin at 10 a.m.
According to Capt. Roberto Simmonds, traffic commander, the following changes will apply:
Main St. will be closed to traffic beginning at 9 a.m. through the close of the event.
Side streets which intersect Main Street –– Nye Gade, Radetts Gade and Storeteva Gade –– will also observe the same closing.
Tolbud Plasandan Gade and Fort Plasen Gade, which circle Emancipation Garden, will be closed beginning at 10 a. m., depending on how much foot traffic there is between the Garden and Main St.
Parking south of Palm Passage (Veterans Drive side) will be closed to vehicular traffic and driving from 9 a.m. until the event is concluded.
Officer Simmonds said on Thursday morning, "Motorists are encouraged to use Vladimir A. Hill Sr. Highway, and Veterans Drive to traverse town." And he had a reminder: "Have a happy holiday season; Don't drink and drive."
