What's Next on the Doug Lewis Show

Jan. 17, 2006 – Tune into the Doug Lewis Show on WVGN 107.3 FM this Sunday, Jan. 22, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. This Sunday you will be entertained by Jerry Garcia, Big Happy, Marty Stuart, Teye, Michelle Lundeen, and more.
The Modern Music Feature CD is Garcia Plays Dylan. This two CD set consists of various live tracks by Jerry Garcia, some by the Jerry Garcia Band and some by the Grateful Dead, with interpretations of Dylan tunes. Most of the tracks have not previously been released.
The Indie Spotlight CD is The Big Happy by the group the Big Happy. They have a roots pop sound with some country influence. They will be touring the Virgin Islands in March, and you may remember Billy Block from the band. He used to host a show on television called the Western Beat.
We include new music from Ernie Hawkins, who will be playing some gigs in St. John in February, country artist Marty Stuart, folk artist Bob Franke, blues artist Michele Lundeen and more.
We also celebrate the birthday of the great Sam Cooke and feature tunes from Patti deRosa, who will be playing on St. Thomas in early February. There will also be music from the outstanding flamenco guitarist Teye, who, along with his wife, flamenco dancer Belen, is playing gigs in the territory this month.
We also include music from Anna Cheek, who begins her Virgin Islands tour on Jan. 18, as well as songs from Joe Ely, Rod Stewart, Magic Slim and the Teardrops, Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers, Renee Austin, and more.

Tune in for a chance to win some great prizes. We are giving away the new CD from Kathy Mattea and a CD from blues icon Pinetop Perkins, who is in his nineties and still performing.
Phone service has been restored after two weeks without service, and the call in line to win prizes is now operable. The call in number is 777-6035. Hopefully, the station signal problems have been resolved. This past Sunday the sound was normal and station management has told me they believe that they have solved the technical problems.
Doug Lewis Show is underwritten by Hook, Line and Sinker, Molly Molones, and Steve Simon and the St. John Blues Festival.
