CCT Brings Rock Opera to the Stage

Jan. 26, 2006 – "Jesus Christ Superstar," a rock opera for all generations, opens on Friday, Feb. 3. The Caribbean Community Theatre (CCT) will present the musical on Friday and Saturday evenings for three weekends, from Feb. 3 through Feb. 18, with curtain time at 8 p.m. There will be a Sunday matinee on Feb. 12, at 4 p.m. All shows are held at the new CCT Theater at No. 18 Estate Orange Grove, Christiansted, St. Croix. Theatergoers should arrive early for best seating, as reservations will not be taken for this production.
Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $8 for students. CCT also offers a special discount for church groups on a first come, first served basis: $12 per ticket if at least 20 tickets are purchased in advance. You can call the theatre at 778-1983 or fax 773-3650.
With music written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, Jesus Christ Superstar chronicles the last seven days in the life of Jesus as seen through the eyes of his disciple, Judas. The play is directed by Lorraine Durand with music direction by Kathleen Dodge-DeHaven. David James stars as Jesus, with Lionel Downer as Judas, and Natalie Hollins as Mary Magdalene.
