February 14, 2006 – The Feb. 17 opening of this year's Agriculture and Food Fair will include a state-of-the-art fireworks display at 7 p.m. by the world-renowned Fireworks by Grucci company, according to a press release.
"Having secured one of the premier fireworks display companies in the world to offer a one-of-a-kind show is extremely exciting for all who helped in organizing this year's Fair," said Dr. Lawrence Lewis, president of the Agricultural and Food Fair. "We hope that all will enjoy the magnificent celebration."
This year's fair, themed "Agriculture & Tourism, A Perfect Mix in 2006," will showcase more than 70 vendors selling locally-made items along with entertainment, major exhibits, fashion shows, calypso shows, animals, rides and daily food preparation demonstrations over President's Day Weekend, February 17-20 on St. Croix.
"We were thrilled to hear the news of the added fireworks display," said Tourism Commissioner Pamela C. Richards. "It will be an unforgettable tribute to the fair's 35 years' worth of food, arts, music and activities dedicated to celebrating our island's culture and traditions."
Donna Grucci, president of Fireworks by Grucci, said, "We are particularly honored to be back in St. Croix for such an occasion, as this is our first public display on the island in more than 20 years."
Agrifest is hosted by the Department of Tourism, the Department of Agriculture and the University of the Virgin Islands Cooperative Extension Service.
