News Brief: Christensen to Appear on Comedy Central This Week

0

March 15, 2006 – Taking a walk on the lighter side of policy and politics, Delegate to Congress Donna M. Christensen will appear on cable television's Comedy Central channel this coming Thursday, Friday and Monday. Christensen will be a guest on "The Colbert Report," on the Better Know A District segment, a tongue-in-cheek interview with members of Congress by host Stephen Colbert.
"The Colbert Report" is a spin-off of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" and follows Stewart on the channel's lineup. The shows are seen each night by more than 4 million, mostly young viewers.
The Better Know A District segment airs once a week and has been hailed as a hilarious and offbeat look at congressional representatives and the districts that they represent. The Comedy Channel airs on St. Thomas-St. John Cable Channel 32.
"There is so much that is serious about what we do in the Congress," said Christensen. "This was a chance to look at the humorous side of things and to not take ourselves quite so seriously," she said. "Other [congressional] members who have done the show before me tell me that they get a great response from their younger constituents, who usually don't pay close attention to politics. If this draws them in, I am all for it," she commented.
The show, which was taped last month, will first air early Friday morning at 12:30 a.m. locally and will be re-run later the same morning at 11:30 a.m. and again at 3:30 p.m. that afternoon.
The show will air again on Monday, March 20 at 11:30 a.m. locally and again at 3:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
