March 15, 2006 – The U.S. Virgin Islands Congress of Parents, Teachers, Students Association Inc. presents its 2006 Leadership Conference for territorial board, committee and district members.
The first training session, which targets territorial boards and commission members, has been scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Saturday, March 25, at the Education Department's Curriculum Center on St. Thomas.
There will be a subsequent session at 9 a.m., on Friday, March 31, at the Charlotte Amalie High School. There will also be a session held for St. Croix PTA officers at 9 a.m., on Saturday, April 1, at the St. Croix Educational Complex.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. Registration fees are free for PTA members in good standing; $15 for inactive PTA members; and $20 for non-affiliated PTA members.
The conference will be an opportunity to acquire new leadership skills and share ideas so that participants can go back to their communities to promote more parental involvement and advocate on behalf of children, according to a press release from USVI-PTSA President Magarita Greenidge-Benjamin.
Private and parochial school PTAs are welcomed to participate. For more information or to obtain registration forms, contact Grace Fahie at 774-1076 on St. Thomas or Sharon Jackson at 778-1600 on St.Croix.
