March 16, 2006 – Tune into the Doug Lewis Show on WVGN 107.3 FM, Sunday, March 19, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. This Sunday, you will be entertained by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Harry Manx, Mitch Woods, Rosie Ledet, and many more.
The Modern Music Feature CD is "Hammersmith Odeon London 1975" from Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. This CD features a live show recorded just around the time that Springsteen was beginning to receive national attention and acclaim. Bruce and the band recorded a smokin hot show and it's captured in all its glory on this release.
The Indie Spotlight CD is "Mantras for Madmen" from Harry Manx, an amazingly unique acoustic blues artist, who blends Indian music and Eastern influences into his own unique take on the blues.
We include music from the Big Happy who close out their Virgin Islands tour on November 20 with a show at Tickles in St. Thomas and also play tracks from James Cotton, who, along with the Nighthawks, appears at this year's Coors Light St. John Blues Festival.
We also include music from Mitch Woods, who appears at Shipwreck Landing on St. John on Friday, March 24, as part of the Blues Festival activities.
We play new music from Texas songwriter Tom Russell, Saffire the Uppity Blues Women, former Meat Puppet Curt Kirkwood and more.
We also include music from the "zydeco sweetheart" Rosie Ledet, Donovan, Eric Bibb, Ruthie Foster and more.
Please note that Modern Music now has Ruthie Foster CDs for sale at both of their locations.
Tune in for a chance to win "Swanee," a compilation CD with various artists doing Stephen Foster songs, and we also give away the latest release from the outstanding folk artist Tracy Grammer.
Doug Lewis Show is underwritten by Hook, Line and Sinker, Molly Molones, and Steve Simon and the Coors Light St. John Blues Festival.
