March 28, 2006 – The first annual Marine Show sets sail May 6 at the Marketplace shopping center on St. John. The exhibition will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"People like to come early," manager Jennifer Dale said, explaining why she plans to end the event by early afternoon.
While Dale is still working out the details, she said that she expects boats, engines and dinghies to be on display.
Additionally, ancillary companies such as those that make sails, do upholstery and sell electronics will have exhibits. Information will be provided on boat maintenance, boat safety, coastal regulations, and more.
Dale said she also expects charter companies to be on hand.
Boats will be on display in the upper parking lot, with the exhibits on the shopping center's second and third floors.
Stores at the Marketplace will offer specials and admission is free.
People coming from St. Thomas can walk to the Marketplace from the ferry dock. Follow the road that runs First Bank. At the Texaco gas station, stay to the right. The Marketplace will be on the left across from Enighed Pond.
Companies that would like to exhibit should contact Dale at 776-6455.
