National Library Week Is Celebrated

0

Dear Source:
National Library Week will be celebrated April 3 through the 9, in the U.S. Virgin Islands by many who support reading. Two unique events on St. Thomas will be held during this week.
At 9 a.m., On Tuesday, April 4, celebrity comedian Michael Winslow, well known for his role as the human beat-box in the movie Police Academy, will be reading at the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School cafeteria and both Dober and Tuitt Elementary are invited. This should be lots of fun for all attending.
On Saturday, April 8, "Read on the Green" will be held on the UVI golf course. We hope for a large turnout for this collaborative effort by the academic, private and public school libraries. There will be many activities of fun and learning planned for that day. At 2 p.m. author and storyteller Elaine Jacobs will read to all the children. In addition to this reading, planned activities such as face painting, story reading and crafts will be there for all to enjoy.
The Friends of St. Thomas Public Libraries will also be in attendance asking for every ones support of reading and providing more information about our organization. So bring your beach chair or blanket and your favorite book to join the Read on the Green golf course of UVI. The Friends of St. Thomas Public Libraries would like to urge the public to come out and attend both National Library Week activities this week that are being put forth by the Division of Libraries as well as the Department of Planning and Natural Resources through funding provided by the Mahogany Run Golf Course and Ginn Clubs & Resorts.
