April 4, 2006 – Tune into the Doug Lewis Show on WVGN 107.3 FM, Sunday, April 9, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. This Sunday we feature The Kinks' Ray Davies, Rhythm and Groove Club, Teddy Thompson, Karin Matheson, and more.
The Modern Music Feature CD is "Other Peoples Lives," the new release from The Kinks frontman Ray Davies, who has produced an excellent compendium of pop rock with intelligent lyrics.
The Indie Spotlight CD is "Groove Approved" by the Rhythm and Groove Club. The CD has a great assortment of Louisiana musicians including the legendary Alan Touissant. The lead vocalist is Jeff Cook, who also works as the head of radio promotion for New West Records.
We include music from Celtic folk singer Cletus McBride, who appears at Molly Molones, and music from Hudson and the Hoo Doo Cats, who will be playing various venues in the Virgin Islands in the month of April.
We will be playing new music from alt country artist Darden Smith, the Texas Bluesboys, folk artist Russ Rentler, Celtic singer Karen Matheson and more.
We also include music from Junior Walker and the All Stars, Sara Hickman, Ryan Adams, Debbie Davies and more.
We celebrate the birthdays of Carl Perkins, former Byrd Gene Parsons, country artist Hal Ketchum, and Zydeco master Rockin Sidney, and we remember folk great Phil Ochs and the blues artist Yank Rachell on the anniversaries of their deaths.
Tune in for a chance to win a CD release from singer-songwriter Teddy Thompson, who is the son of Richard Thompson and also for a chance to win a new blues release from Albert Castiglia and Graham Wood Stout.
Doug Lewis Show is underwritten by Hook, Line and Sinker, and Molly Molones.
