Army National Guard Pvt. Jody Roberts/St. Croix
April 6, 2006 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Army National Guard Pvt. Jody Roberts has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values and physical fitness. She received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.
She is the daughter of Joan Roberts of St. Croix, Virgin Islands, and sister of Lauren Bryan of Hacienda Acres, San Antonio, Texas.
Roberts is a 2001 graduate of St. Croix Central High School.
National Guard Pvt. Carlyle A. Maynard/St. Croix
April 12, 2006 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Army National Guard Pvt. Carlyle A. Maynard has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Navy Airman Jacinda L. Foster/St. Thomas
April 17, 2006 (An e-mail from Jacinda Huggins) – On December 1, 2005 Navy Airman Jacinda L. Foster, a 2005 graduate from Ivanna Eudora Kean High School, reported to her first duty station Yokosuka, Japan.
She is currently working as a plane captain in strike fighter squadron, VFA 102. Her family, Casper, Frances, and Cassius Rawlins, have her in their prayers continuously. She will be going out on deployment in June on the USS Kitty Hawk.
Air Force Master Sgt. Chad A. Martinez/St. Croix
April 17, 2006 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Air Force Master Sgt. Chad A. Martinez has been named the 2005 Personnel Manager of the Year for the Defense Information Systems Agency.
Selection was based on the individual's exemplary duty performance, job knowledge, leadership qualities, significant self-improvement, and other specific achievements and notable accomplishments.
Martinez is a personnel services superintendent assigned to the White House Communications Agency, Washington, D.C.
He is the son of Antonio and Alden T. Martinez of Anna's Hope, St. Croix, Virgin Islands. The recently promoted master sergeant is a 1989 graduate of St. Joseph High School, St. Croix.
Army Reserve Spec. Nicole J. McGuire-Pearson/St. Thomas
April 18, 2006 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Army Reserve Spec. Nicole J. McGuire-Pearson has been mobilized and activated for a future deployment to an undisclosed overseas location in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Operation Iraqi Freedom is the official name given to military operations involving members of the U.S. armed forces and coalition forces participating in efforts to free and secure Iraq. Mission objectives focus on force protection, peacekeeping, stabilization, security and counter-insurgency operations as the Iraqi transitional governing bodies assume full sovereign powers to govern the peoples of Iraq.
Members from all branches of the U.S. military and multinational forces are also assisting in rebuilding Iraq's economic and governmental infrastructure, and training and preparing Iraqi military and security forces to assume full authority and responsibility in defending and preserving Iraq's sovereignty and independence as a democracy.
McGuire, a supply specialist with six years of military service, is normally assigned to the 445th Quartermaster Company, Fort Dix, Trenton, N.J.
She is the daughter of Robert McGuire Jr. of Market St., Bristol, Pa., and Gwendolyn M. James of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
The specialist is a 1998 graduate of Ivanna Eudora Kean High School, St. Thomas.
