Update: WAPA Identifies Injured Engineer

0

April 12, 2006 – The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority identified John Frett as the engineer injured Tuesday while making routine repairs to the Unit 18 station service meter at the Randolph Harley Power Plant. (See "Brief: WAPA Employee Injured While Making Unit Repairs").
Frett has been released from the hospital where he had been held overnight for observation.
Glenn Rothgeb, chief operating officer for WAPA, said Frett's injuries were not as bad as originally thought. He said only one of Frett's fingers was burned, and the damage to his eyes from the "flashover" would clear up. Rothgeb said the UV burns caused when he touched two phases together are "like a bad sunburn."
