West Indian Play Premiering at CCT

May 2, 2006 — Caribbean Community Theatre has a opening on Friday — Liberated — a West Indian comedy, and it has auditions for its next production The Boys Next Door on Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m.
This will be the world premiere of Liberated, written by Marvin Williams, a professor at the University of the Virgin Islands, St. Croix campus, and editor of the award-winning publication The Caribbean Writer.
Liberated will run May 5, 6, 12, 13, 14, 19 and 20, at the theatre at 18 Orange Grove in Christiansted. Curtain time is 8 p.m. for the Friday and Saturday performances, and 4 p.m. for the Sunday matinee on May 14. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students. No reservations are accepted, so arrive early for best seating.
Attendees will have the opportunity to dance to the Eddie Russell Quelbe Latin Jazz Band after the play on May 6.
Liberated , described by the author as "a comedy which explores the fear that drives male sexism and the fearlessness that propels female self-agency," is directed by CCT veteran, Eileen Bishop Des Jardins.
Rodolfo "Indio" Jacobs II, Jelani James, Oceana James and Marlene Whitney make up the cast of this comedy about days past in the Virgin Islands

The Boys Next Door , by Tom Griffin, is being directed by Debby Babb with performances beginning in mid June.
CCT is looking for male and female actors ages 18 and up.
