May 15, 2006 – Caribbean Community Theatre will present the world premiere of "Liberated," a Crucian comedy written by Marvin E. Williams, professor at the University of the Virgin Islands, St. Croix campus, and editor of the award-winning publication "The Caribbean Writer."
"Liberated" will close this weekend with only two more performances remaining: 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday, May 19 and May 20, at the Caribbean Community Theatre at #18 Orange Grove in Christiansted. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students. No reservations are accepted, so arrive early for best seating. This adult comedy is not recommended for children under age 13.
The play is a humorous story of two men and two women who are trying to figure out how to stay "liberated" while still making the marriage commitment. This lively comedy will remind you of when songs like "Barna Jam" and "Tobago Girl" played on your turntables. Picture the scene as one of the characters colorfully describes it: "The Vibratones at Eve's Garden, Tarco and Milo tearing up Plantation, Archie and his bwoys mashing up Vickey's and the Hideaway. Dem dey was days. Booke and Bailey, Baga and Edgy. Archie and the solo sax and Wesley and the cylobox…"
Four local actors make up the cast: Rodolfo H. Jacobs II, Jelani James, Oceana James, and Marlene Whitney. Eileen Bishop Des Jardins directs this production. Michelle Greene is Assistant Director and Stage Manager, and the set design and scenic artist is Chester Delacruz.
