Aug. 9, 2006 – St. Thomas attorney Tom Bolt was elected president of the American Counsel Association on Tuesday, Aug. 8 at the organization's annual meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The American Counsel Association is a nonprofit international association of attorneys established in 1929 for the purpose of enhancing the standards of the legal profession, assisting deserving law students, and providing a network for its distinguished members.
Not only does Bolt bring 25 years of legal experience to the organization, he has also served as the president of the V.I. Bar Association and as a member of the Executive Council of the National Conference of Bar Presidents.
Additionally, Bolt has served as a member of the American Bar Association's House of Delegates since 1989 and serves as commissioner for the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws.
As ACA president, Bolt will set the structure and reinforce the services that support the long-term vision for the organization's future growth. He will also serve as a member of ACA board of directors and its executive committee.
Former ACA President James K. Dorsett III of Raleigh, N.C., welcomed Bolt to his new leadership post. "Every lawyer, every judge, and every legislator who has ever met Tom Bolt is familiar with his hard work, his creative energy and his commitment to the legal profession and the clients we serve. I am confident that he will make the ACA better than it has ever been and that he will work tirelessly to advance the principles of ACA including respect for rule of law," he said.
Bolt is managing attorney of Tom Bolt & Associates, P.C., a St. Thomas law firm concentrating its practice in business, real estate, banking, tax and estate planning, civil litigation and labor and employment law.
