Sept. 6, 2006 – Effective Wednesday, Sept. 6, Seaborne Airlines, the only airline operating seaplanes in the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, will slightly reduce the September flight schedule to accommodate a refurbishment of the existing fleet. Seaborne President Omer, said this week, "These aircraft have worked very hard over the past 12 months and it's time for each to receive some tender loving care."
Along with mechanical maintenance and upgrades, all aircraft will receive an aesthetic facelift "inside and out," ErSelcuk said.
"While this will reduce capacity for most of September and the first week of October, we hope our customers will appreciate the proactive steps we are taking to improve the in-flight experience and boost reliability."
Given the reduction in seats and capacity, customers are encouraged to book in advance and to avoid double booking which reduces available seats. ErSelcuk said normal service will resume the first week of October.
Furthermore, in late October or early November another aircraft will be added to the fleet which ErSelcuk said will increase daily capacity by 30 percent. "While it is too early to provide schedule details, customers can be assured that there will be more seats provided between St. Croix and St. Thomas during the peak hours of 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and more flights to and from San Juan," ErSelcuk said.
