Christmas Festival Schedule Now Available

Nov. 30, 2006 — "Celebrating our Heritage With a Cultural Blend for Festival 2006-2007" is the theme for the 54th year of Crucian Festivals. Here is the full schedule for the Christmas Festival season.
— Saturday, Dec. 2: The Festival opens with a grand kickoff at the Christian Shan Hendricks Market in Christiansted. The celebration begins at 7 p.m. with music by the Heart-Attack Band. All vendors are invited.
— Sunday, Dec. 3: The Prince, Princess and Duchess Pageant will be held at the Island Center for the Performing Arts. The pageant begins at 3 p.m. and admission is $10; $5 for children 12 and under.
— Sunday, Dec 10: Junior Calypso competition begins at 4 p.m. at the Island Center for the Performing Arts.
— Friday, Dec. 15: Calypso Monarch eliminations begin at 8 p.m. at Island Center for the Performing Arts.
— Saturday, Dec. 16: Panfest, featuring steel pan groups from local schools, begins at 8 p.m. at the Island Center for the Performing Arts.
— Sunday, Dec. 17: The Miss St. Croix and Mr. St. Croix Pageants will be held at Island Center for the Performing Arts. There are four contestants competing for the title of Miss St. Croix: Juwanna Goodwin, Edrinay White, Melba Moore and Yaida Bermudez. There are three contestants competing for the title of Mr. St. Croix: John Williams, Julio Petersen III and Sonny Ortiz. Tickets outlets are pending.
— Friday, Dec. 22: Coney Island rides open at 5 p.m. at Festival Village.
— Monday, Dec. 25: A Christmas concert with caroling is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at Buddhoe Park, Frederiksted.
— Tuesday, Dec. 26: Festival Village opens with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6 p.m. The official opening night tramp will begin at the Frederiksted Post Office and end at the Festival Village.
— Saturday, Dec 30: Crucian, Latin and Eastern Caribbean culture takes center stage with Cultural Night in the Festival Village beginning at 8 p.m. The annual Quelbe tramp begins at 8 p.m. at the Frederiksted Post office to the Festival Village.
— Sunday, Dec. 31: The action is on the water with the annual Water Sports day. See all the action from the area around the Albert Edwards Fish Market in Frederiksted.
— Wednesday, Jan. 3: Get the best local food and crafts at the Food, Arts and Crafts Fair, 11 a.m. till food done! Location: the Anne Heyliger Vegetable Market, Frederiksted.
— Wednesday. Jan. 3: The best of the Caribbean will be on display at the Festival Village Caribbean Night Extravaganza beginning at 8 p.m. See the magic and splendor of the King and Queen of the Bands beginning at 10 p.m. in Festival Village.
— Thursday, Jan 4: A can't-miss event! J'ouvert is scheduled for 5 a.m. Participants gather at Hannah's Rest corner.
–Thursday, Jan.4: Calypso Monarch finals beginning at 8 p.m. at the Island Center for the Performing Arts will satisfy your appetite for stinging political satire and biting social commentary.
— Friday, Jan. 5: Its the children's time to shine at the annual Children's Parade, which begins at 10 a.m. from the Claude O. Markoe School to the Festival Village.
–Friday, Jan. 5: It's Latin Night with merengue, pachanga and bolero dancing at in the Frederiksted Village beginning at 8 p.m.
–Saturday, Jan 6: The Adult's Parade brings the Festival to a close. The parade begins at 10 a.m. from the Claude O. Markoe School to the Festival Village.
