What's Up Next on the Doug Lewis Show

Jan. 15, 2007 – Tune into the Doug Lewis Show on WVGN 107.3 FM from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 21. This Sunday we will feature music by Elton John, Michael O'Neill, Maria Muldaur, Jackie Wilson, Richie Havens and more.
The Modern Music Feature CD is "The Captain and the Kid" by Elton John. Elton planned this release as a sequel to an album he released back in the seventies called "Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboys." Once again Elton teams up with lyricist and long time songwriting partner Bernie Taupin and offers a very strong set of songs.
The Indie Spotlight CD is "Who's Bad Now" by Americana artist Michael O'Neill. It's hard to categorize O'Neill, who mixes a number of influences into his musical stew.
We play new music from Maria Muldaur, the Robert Cray Band, former Jayahwk Tim O'Reagan, Tony Joe White and more.
We include music from the Beatles, the Grateful Dead, Catherine Russell, the Sir Douglas Quintet and more.
We celebrate the birthdays of Richie Havens, blues singer Zora Young, and New Orleans bluesman Snooks Eaglin.
We remember "Mr. Excitement" Jackie Wilson and blues icon Champion Jack Dupree on the anniversary of their deaths.
We also include music from Otis Taylor, who plays at Tillett Gardens on Jan. 24, and music from the Hank Hankshaw Band, who are playing in the Virgin Islands from Jan. 17-29, at various venues. Tune in for a chance to win two tickets to see Otis Taylor at Tillett Gardens on Wednesday, Jan. 24.
We give you a chance to win a copy of a Dwight Yoakam CD, recorded live on the television show Austin City Limits, and a CD by contemporary bluegrass band Old Crow Medicine Show.
Doug Lewis Show is underwritten by Hook, Line and Sinker; Molly Molones; and St. Thomas Radiology Associates.
