Caribbean Cable Annual Meeting to Be Held on St. Kitts

Jan. 23, 2007 – The Caribbean Cable and Telecommunications Association will hold its 2007 Annual Meeting, known widely as the Caribbean Show, from Jan. 30 through Feb. 2, at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort and The Royal Beach Casino on Frigate Bay.
The annual meeting has already attracted the registrations of 270 cable and telecommunications professionals, primarily personnel from Caribbean-based cable and telecommunications operators and representatives of software, hardware and programming companies that serve the industry. There will be over 82 companies with displays in the exhibit hall on Feb. 1-2. Representatives of 126 companies from 19 different countries have registered.
The theme of the meeting, "Building on Caribbean Diversity," will be highlighted by a panel discussion on Feb. 2, entitled "Imagery in the Caribbean Diaspora." Presented by the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications, the interactive session will examine media imagery of people of Caribbean descent. Panelists will include Kathy A. Johnson, executive director and president of NAMIC; Frederick A. Morton Jr., senior vice president and general manager of TEMPO, MTV Networks' channel devoted to the Caribbean; Cedric Scott, film producer; and Lisa Wickham, CEO of E-Zone Entertainment.
The keynote speaker will be Steve Villano, president and CEO of Cable Positive, the organization established to mobilize the cable and telecommunications industry to use its influence to raise HIV/AIDS awareness. Other sessions will explore marketing, telephone over cable, new programming and new technical advances in the industry.
On-site registration will begin at noon, on Jan. 30. Media passes are also available. For further information, contact Executive Director Andrea L. Martin at 1-340-774-9791 or [email protected].
