Dear Source:
Dear Governor deJongh:
I just wanted you to know that many of us have great hopes in your ability to improve things for the people of our islands. I even became a Democrat for a little while in the fall just to vote for you in the primary. Here are a few thoughts I send your way–
–Under no circumstances give Lorraine Berry a job in our government. She has been overseeing the failure of our government to function properly for over twenty years. As Albert Einstein said "you can't solve a problem with the same mind that created it." You have already started the senatorial recycling center with Pete Encarnacion. We don't need any more.
–Under no circumstances give Pam Richards a job in our government. In fact she should be billed for a payroll refund. Her refusal to run a "no passports required" campaign will cost myself and many others in the tourism field many dollars this year. This will also obviously effect the government coffers as well. Turn this department over to professionals in the field. Stop it from continuing to be a place where elected officials can put their hair-brained niece or nephew into a job. Privatize it.
-To this point you have refused to comment on the ongoing recall campaign and the reasons behind it (The Omnibus Bill). This is the biggest story this government has had in years, now including a federal agency (FCC), and our CEO is incommunicado. Not good. I dearly hope that it is not because it was the Democrats who passed the bill and you are being an apparatchik. You need to dissociate yourself from the party as, unfortunately, it has become one of the great contributing factors to the challenges we face in our present financial and social state.
As I said at the beginning, I wish you well in your new job. After the last eight years we need someone to take charge and do the right thing, even if it means not being re-elected.
