Feb. 27, 2007 – Tune into the Doug Lewis Show on WVGN 107.3 FM from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, March 4. This Sunday we will feature music by Natalie Cole, Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band, Bruce Hornsby, Big Happy, Mary Wilson and more.
The Modern Music Feature CD is "Leavin" from Natalie Cole, who returns to her R&B roots with this new CD that includes tunes written by Neil Young, Kate Bush and various other songwriters. Natalie shows her versatility on this eclectic selection of songs.
The Indie Spotlight CD is "Bayou Road" by rockin zydeco artist Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band, who provide us with a solid CD chock full of authentic zydeco.
We include new music from the Holmes Brothers, Grant-Lee Phillips, Los Straitjackets, Ruthie Foster and more.
We also play music from Bruce Hornsby, Ana Popovic, Neil Sedaka, the Dixie Chicks and more.
We celebrate the birthday of Mary Wilson of the Supremes and remember Richard Manuel of the Band on the anniversary of his death.
We include music from the Big Happy, who will be touring in the Virgin Islands throughout the month of March and from 2 Blue Shoes, who will be performing on St. John during the week of the Blues Festival. We also include music from Sara Hickman, who will be performing at Tillett Gardens on St. Thomas on March 14. We will play music from Jon Cleary and the Absolute Monster Gentlemen, who will also be performing at the St. John Blues Festival.
