April 12, 2007 — The Economic Development Commission (EDC) has scheduled its first public hearing of the calendar year for Thursday, May 24, at a place and time to be announced, according to Frank Schulterbrandt, chief executive officer of the Economic Development Authority (EDA), the semi-autonomous agency under which the EDC falls.
Interested persons are urged to submit their applications for benefits by April 26, 2007 to the attention of Nadine Marchena Kean, assistant chief executive officer, Economic Development Authority, No. 116 King Street, Frederiksted, St. Croix, VI 00840.
In a release from his office Schulterbrandt said the purpose of the public hearings, which are generally held every six weeks, is to provide an opportunity for businesses interested in participating in the EDC Program to make presentations before the EDC Board of Commissioners and the public at large.
Additionally, any person, firm or corporation may appear to testify in favor of or against an applicant, provided that a written statement is submitted to the Chief Executive Officer of the Economic Development Authority at least one day prior to the date of the hearing.
