Pistarckle Presents Shakespeare and Renaissance Faire

April 18, 2007 – Pistarckle Theater will have its first annual Shakespeare Festival followed by a Renaissance Faire from 2-8 p.m., on Friday, May 4, at Tillett Gardens.
The event, produced by Betsy Summers and Bethany Burgess-Smith, will be fun for the whole family and is free. The day begins with Pistarckle's first annual Shakespeare Festival in which over 150 students island-wide will perform select pieces from their favorite Shakespeare plays. Schools participating include Dober Elementary, V.I. Montessori, Ulla Miller, Antilles and the University of the Virgin Islands. The students will be given feedback and awards based on their performances.
Then, beginning at 5 p.m., it's the Renaissance Faire, with treasure hunts, games, fortune telling, Maypole dancing, the appearance of a village idiot, more scene demonstrations, a chance to make your own hat and much more.
Businesses participating in Tillett Gardens include Lett Design's & Screen Printing Studio, Ridvan Studio, Zen Retreat and Jack's Restaurant. The fair is sponsored by the Community Foundation of the V.I., the Law Enforcement Planning Commission, Penguin Books, Margate Management, and the V.I. Council on the Arts.
