April 24, 2007 – The Ruby Rutnik Scholarship Fund announced that scholarship applications are now available for the 2007-2008 school year. This year's renewable $2,500 annual award is offered to a qualifying St. John female who has resided or whose family has resided on St. John for five years or more. A one-year, $2,500 scholarship award will also be offered to a St. John male or female who will attend or who is attending the University of the Virgin Islands.
Applications can be picked up at Connections in Cruz Bay or Coral Bay or by contacting the Rutniks at 693-8069. The deadline for submissions is May 25. Notice of awards will be given on or before June 11.
The fund is supported by the Annual Ruby Rutnik Memorial Softball Tournament, which will be held in the Cruz Bay Ball Field May 4-5. Sponsors may contact Connections or the Rutniks.
