May 9, 2007 – Tune into the Doug Lewis Show on WVGN 107.3 FM from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, May 13. This Sunday we will feature music by Cowboy Junkies, Gray Sky Girls, Bright Eyes, Richie Valens, David Honeyboy Edwards and more.
The Modern Music Feature CD is "At the End of Paths Taken," the latest release from Canada's Cowboy Junkies. The CD features the moody, atmospheric sounds the Cowboy Junkies are known for, including the haunting vocals of lead vocalist Margo Timmins.
The Indie Spotlight CD is the self-titled release by the Gray Sky Girls. "The Gray Sky Girls" combines the efforts of singer-songwriters Lisa Bastoni and Naomi Sommers. Both Lisa and Naomi have released solo efforts in the past and join forces to release this fine CD of acoustic folk sounds.
We play new music from Otis Taylor, the David Grisman Quintet, Willie Nelson and Ray Price, Bright Eyes, Richard Shindell and more.
We include music from Asleep at the Wheel, the Bee Gees, David Honeyboy Edwards, the Beatles, John Lee Hooker Jr., Hubert Sumlin and more.
We celebrate the birthdays of Stevie Wonder, English vocalist Joe Brown and Richie Valens. We also remember Texas Swing King Bob Wills on the anniversary of his death.
We give away a copy of the brand new Cowboy Junkies CD, compliments of Rounder Records.
We also give away an EP with tracks from the tribute CD to the Band titled "Endless Highway" and a new CD from roots rock artist Lipbone Redding.
Doug Lewis Show is underwritten by Hook, Line and Sinker; Molly Molones; and St. Thomas Radiology Associates.
