June 14, 2007 — The V.I. Public Services Commission will host the sixth Workshop of the Organisation of Caribbean Utility Regulators (OOCUR) Monday through Wednesday at the Carambola Beach Resort on St. Croix, according to a PSC news release.
The workshop, “Consumer Participation in the Utility Regulation Process,” consists of three sections: “Communications, Consumer Voice and Quality of Service,” “Utility Consumers Rights, Responsibilities and Redress” and “Regulators’ Complaints Procedure and Peer Review.”
This is the first time that OOCUR will conduct a workshop in the territory, the news release said. Participants and presenters are expected to converge on St. Croix from across the Caribbean — the Bahamas, Barbados, Jamaica and Trinidad.
OOCUR is a non-profit organization established in 2002 for the purpose of improving utility regulation in the Caribbean, providing research, training and development to its members and facilitating a greater understanding of utility regulatory issues, the release said.
