0

Oct. 3, 2007 — Gov. John deJongh Jr. left for Miami Wednesday afternoon for two days of meetings with representatives of cruise lines whose ships make port calls in the territory.
“I envision open and frank discussions with the representatives of Royal Caribbean International and Carnival Corporation about the Virgin Islands remaining a premier cruise-ship destination in the Caribbean," deJongh said, according to a Government House news release. The meetings are scheduled for Thursday and Friday.
Lt. Gov. Gregory R. Francis is serving as acting governor in deJongh's absence, in accordance with the Revised Organic Act of 1954 as amended. DeJongh will return to the territory at the end of the week.
