Dec. 5, 2007 — Gov. John deJongh Jr. and first lady Cecile deJongh will host the territory's annual Children's Christmas Parties on all three islands beginning next Wednesday.
"During this holiday season, I am delighted to join my wife, Cecile, in hosting these special Christmas tributes for children of the territory," the governor said, according to a Government House news release. "At this cherished time of year, it is important to spend time with children and to remind them of the shared love of this community and the wondrous traditions of Christmas."
Members of the community are volunteering to assist in the special planning of the Christmas parties. As part of the administration's commitment to education, and in the spirit of learning and involvement, children from grades Pre-K3 through second have been invited from all public, private and parochial schools throughout the territory. Plans have been made with those schools, through the Department of Education, to transport the children to the venues by special arrangement. Gifts will be provided and are within the educational theme.
