New Year's Wish List for the Virgin Islands

0

Dear Source:
We all have special wishes for the Holiday season. When New Years comes, we all promise to make changes for the better. Here are my wishes:
* That the government realizes that owning utilities is a fruitless endeavor and makes a decision to privatize.
* That the Governor replace the existing WAPA Board with people who actually have a vision for saving money for Virgin Islanders
* That the Governor replace the entire PSC Board (No explanation needed)
* That the WMA actually consider installing trash-to-energy plants to help alleviate some of our energy woes.
* That the Governor use his constitutional powers and start issuing executive orders when the Senate fails to act decisively. (This will keep them so active trying to override his orders that they won't have time to make any more silly laws)
* That no existing Senator decides to run for office ever again.
* That St John has play areas and athletic fields that are level, not filled with rocks or feral animals and are not subject to development.
* That St John finally has an additional parking area. (Three trips through Cruz Bay before giving up is frustrating)
* That the police department initiate a new policy where police actually start solving crimes instead of harassing citizens.
* That the Constitutional Convention actually hold meetings and tell us what they are up to.
Oh yes, my New Years wish: that I never have to complain again on the Source (I may not be able to keep that one…).
