Dec. 21, 2007 — Sunset Jazz takes on a holiday flair Friday, celebrating the 8th anniversary of the monthly concert series and the Christmas holiday season on the Frederiksted waterfront.
On stage at this special holiday concert will be Stanley and the Ten Sleepless Knights and Eddie Russell and the Quelbe Latin Jazz Band. This fusion of traditional music, provided by Stanley Jacobs and his band, is an intricate and essential part of the Crucian culture. The band is one of St. Croix's foremost ambassadors of culture; traveling all over the world bringing the unique sounds and the cultural heritage of St. Croix to audiences everywhere they perform.
Eddie Russell and the Quelbe Latin Jazz Band will delight music aficionados who appreciate jazz, traditional quelbe music and a touch of Latin flavor. Russell's raspy but soulful voice often reminds listeners of the great big band era singers.
