Arts Alive Presents the Ahn Trio in February

0

Jan. 4, 2008 – The Ahn Trio will perform an evening of chamber music at 8 p.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Tillett Gardens. The Julliard-trained musicians, who have released numerous CDs, have been featured in national magazines such as Time, Vogue, People, according to a press release from Arts Alive.
The trio consists of three sisters: Maria on cello, Lucia on piano, and Angella on violin. Born in Seoul, Korea, and educated in New York, the Ahn trio has breathed new life into the standard piano trio literature and forged new ties to dance, painters, installation artists, and musicians in other musical genres from pop to country. Music critics all over the world have marveled at their "impressive technique" (Washington Post), and "gorgeous tone" (Los Angeles Times). Audio Magazine raved about their first recording, saying that the Ravel and Vida-Lobos trios had "never been better played."
The breadth of the Ahn Trio's musicality matches their eclectic interests. They have been selected and reselected to play new commissioned works by Kenji Bunch, Maurice Jarre, Michael Nyman–all cutting edge composers who have risen to the top of the composing world.
Tickets for the concert only are $30; they are $70 with the prix fixe dinner; reservations are recommended. Tickets are available at Tillett Gardens in the Tillett Gallery between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
