Feb. 8, 2008 – The Virgin Islands Department of Education is actively accepting applications for persons interested in becoming substitute teachers, according to Human Resources Director Alscess Lewis-Brown. Retired educators and other interested persons are being encouraged to apply to become a part of the department's skilled team of educators.
Brown said, "As the Department continues its recruitment of highly qualified persons to fill vacancies in a number of areas, there also remains a need to recruit substitute teachers toward maintaining a full compliment of educators that may need to be assigned on an as needs basis."
Those who are interested must possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree in education or in a related or specialized field. Call HR offices at 774-0100 on St. Thomas or 772-3878 on St. Croix.
