St. Croix Orchid Society Presents 'Oriental Fantasy'

Feb. 20, 2008 – The St. Croix Orchid Society will take the public on a journey to the mysterious Far East when they present "Oriental Fantasy," their 37th annual orchid show this weekend at the American Legion Hall in Christiansted.
Members as well as other hobbyists, collectors and growers from St. Croix and Puerto Rico will display a stunning diversity of blooming orchids in themed exhibits. This will be an affiliated show of the American Orchid Society with accredited AOS judges selecting the winning blooms and exhibits, according to a press release from the St. Croix Orchid Society.
Members will be available to answer questions about the challenges and rewards of growing these tropical and exotic flowers. There will also be a large assortment of blooming plants available for purchase, as well as opportunities to buy tickets for raffles of blooming orchids and the framed, original artwork featured on this year's show poster by St. Croix artist Toni Lance.
Cheryl Francis, wife of Lt. Gov. Gregory Francis, will do the honor of cutting the ribbon to open the show at 3 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 22, at the American Legion Hall.
