March 4, 2008 – In a statement today, Senator Louis Patrick Hill urged all residents concerned about a proposed East End Floating restaurant to attend a Public Hearing at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
In calling for a wide turnout, Senator Hill stated, "It is a fundamental right of all Virgin Islanders to comment on projects which have an enormous impact on the community."
Senator Hill went on to say, "Without a wide turnout, as is all-too-often experienced at similar meetings, Senators are flooded with complaints that the Public Hearing was flawed, with charges that residents were not given ample opportunity to voice their concerns, and that residents views were not presented fully or forcibly enough. This invariably results in pleas for further hearings and delays, during which all principles feel stalemated, leading to calls for government intervention and with all parties lobbying for government and legislative support".
The CZM Public Hearing on the Christmas Cove Floating Bar and Restaurant will be held at the VI Port Authority's Conference Room at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday on the island of St. Thomas.
