Education and Cattle Grazing

Dear Source:
I read an interesting comment attributed to the park Superintendent during his presentation at a Rotary meeting. The statement essentially went, " the Delegate's plan would set a precedent in that it would set the stage in other national parks for things like leasing land for cattle grazing". I am paraphrasing here but that's the gist. I find it odd that anyone could compare a drive to educate our youth more effectively with a commercial enterprise to lease land for cattle grazing. A more appropriate comparison might have been leasing land for cattle grazing to leasing land for oil exploration – which is what the Bush Administration has apparently been backing for quite some time.
