Everyday Clay Studio to Have Grand Opening

March 21, 2008 – Potter Kimberly Young announces the grand opening of her new studio and gallery, Everyday Clay Studio, with a showing of her own ceramic artwork, "In the Belly of My Dreams." This is the first of many all-ceramic shows to be featured in the new gallery. The champagne reception will be held from 2-9 p.m., Saturday, April 5, in the gallery at Tillett Gardens.
Kimberly Young graduated from the University of Wisconsin, River Falls, in 1999 with a degree in art and moved to St. Thomas in 2001. She began working with longtime potter Lynn Berry at Ridvan Studio in Tillett Gardens and this past December decided to open her own gallery and studio.
The body of work to be shown is a mixture of functional and decorative pottery that she feels is the truest and closest she has come to finding her inner self as an artist.
"I have taken themes and subjects that I have used for years unknowingly and discovered what they really mean to me, what they mean in my life. I feel that I have found a confidence in my artwork and that I can create things without having to worry about whether or not people will like them. Because I know that if I do, and it is coming from deep within my heart, they will."
Everyday Clay Studio is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday. For more information, call 514-9930, or go to www.everydayclayvi.com
