April 8, 2008 – Ricardo Richards Elementary School will host the First Annual Spring Chess Tournament at 9 a.m., on Saturday, April 19. The tournament is titled, "Bringing Math Alive through Chess," and is open to all public, private and parochial school students from six 6 to under 12 years old, according to a press release from Principal Colleen Williams.
The deadline to register for participation is noon, Wednesday, April 9, at a cost of $5 per student. Students are encouraged to register immediately. Only registered students will be allowed to play on tournament day.
