June 23, 2004 — Pyros of the Caribbean, a group of St. John residents with a theatrical bent, are going public with their July 5 performance of "Chapultec's [sic] Gold."
"It's a spectacular show," performer Catherine Levy said.
The performance begins at 8 p.m. at Compass Rose Restaurant, located at Pastory Gardens mini-golf course on St. John.
"Chapultec's Gold" is a tale of a gold-fevered pirate whose quest for treasure leads him to an enchanted island and ultimately to love. It includes fire arts, drumming, dance, circus, storytelling, song, and costumed dinner theater.
Tickets are $80 for adults and $40 for children. Tickets include a choice of appetizer, entrée and dessert from Compass Rose's menu.
The performers all have day jobs, with Levy working at a dive shop. She said that others work in construction, as charter captains and as tai chi instructors.
"We've been performing at villas. This is our first big public event," Levy said.
