A Chance for St. Croix to 'Spread Its Wings'

Dear Source:
I think that it's about time that the senate did something for the people and their island. I was born and raised on St. Croix, and through the years, I have seen that island, so to speak figuratively, "go to the dogs". Every time some opportunity comes along that would help the economy, it is never approved due to the fact that the bad is always recognized before the good. They fail to realize that every time they deny opportunities like this, they not only hurt themselves, but the livelihood of the VI, St. Croix in particular.
Don't get me wrong, the governor should have given them more time to review the terms and conditions of the contract, and I'm sure that there may be some misunderstandings and miscommunications incorporated with this deal, but I'm sure that in the long run, it will all work itself out. As long as they do not compromise the fact that Cruzan Rum is the number one producer on the island, and they offer them the same tax incentives, they should welcome the opportunity for St Croix to spread its wings and stop relying on tourism to be its number one source of revenue. In case they haven't noticed, there is a "big fancy reconstructed" dock on the west end of the island that barely gets any use, except for the local fishers, and there is only one major airline that fly into the island more than once or twice a week. So they need to embrace the fact that someone has taken some type of interest in the island. Use this to your benefit!!
